What I'm doing

After 13 years at Citibank, mostly in the business formerly know as Prince, I mean Citicorp Industrial Credit, I left for greener pastures, as in more $£$£$ with GE Capital. Two years in Stamford with Commercial Equipment Finance's Capital Funding Group, a fun time, and then for the last four years in London. Three years with European Equipment Finance in Hounslow, a less than salubrious location near Heathrow, where I worked with Peter Curtiss. Peter was with Vendor when I was in ABL at the Harrison, NY location. Small world and he's the one that's forwarded on this site. I also ran into John Slowik who used to be in the Airline Group under Fred Bradley and later in Leveraged Capital at the Kensington High Street Underground station, scaring the day lights out of him.

I'm now with GE's Commercial Finance UK business in Tunbridge Wells, a nice community situated about 42 miles SE of London. However, it's not London and while pretty, not my idea of bright lights, big city. I live in London, Kensington to be exact, the expatriate nesting center, and the commute is two hours each way. It's like working in NYC again and coming in from Connecticut. It also gives me the opportunity to twice each way sample the British infrastructure, the Underground and Railtrack, which give me great joy, not, each day.

My position is Risk Director of the business with 44 people under me, all from the UK, which gives me the opportunity to completely get wrong UK labour laws in people management.

I still keep in touch with many people I worked with at Citi, those from ABL (Leveraged Capital), Direct Finance and the Individual Bank, most of whom remain in the States with a couple of exceptions. Hardest moment was finding out about Rich Bosco, one of the ten gone from Citi on 911, from another friend who also worked with Rich, his father Bill and I at Citi.

Living in Blightly has been very nice and there's very little I miss about the States so I've only been back for a total of 6 days over the last four years. Eventually this will all end and I'll be back in the City of my birth, New York.

After leaving London, having done six years for GE Capital, I moved to Shanghai, PRC where I spent four years and now in Singapore since September, 2009.
